State Surplus Property Agency – Government Auctions & Retail Surplus Sales

State Surplus sells all surplus supplies, materials and equipment owned by NC state agencies and universities. We provide a disposition audit trail and return maximum value for the state’s personal property. Funds from sales are returned to the state budget. You can buy some of this property and we are here to help! Sales are made through retail stores and online auctions.

Announcements

• State Surplus has instituted a new morning entry process for the State Surplus retail warehouse in Raleigh.Learn how to take part in the morning lottery process.
• Bid for surplus property online. Click for our auctions site
• The warehouse, retail store and vehicle lot at 6501 Chapel Hill Road operate 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m, Mondays through Fridays. Keys for viewing auction vehicles are not issued after 4 p.m. We are unable to process payments after 4:30 p.m.
  • Surplus Property will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, 2025 in observance of the state holiday for Labor Day.
