Fast Furious Dodge Charger Leads Star Car Auction

Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodger Charger R/T, as seen on screen in Fast Furious 4 and 5, is part of a sale of movie star cars, forced by the closure of a little-known museum.
Rodz Bodz Movie Cars More Museum in Englewood Colorado had billed itself as the state’s “premier movie car museum” with “access to over 300 vehicles,” and has had a short but troubled history. Only open for four years, this will actually be the museum’s third shutdown.
Founded by Zack Loffert, who had built up a stock of props and vehicles that he rented out, the museum opened its doors in 2021, but has, sadly, been forced to close. Loffert’s prop rental business remains open.
His loss will be many movie fans’ gain, however, as a number of screen star cars are headed to auction, alongside a vast array of motoring memorabilia.
Toretto’s Charger is a stunt car, powered by a 440-cubic-inch V-8 mated to an automatic transmission. The manual ‘slap stick’ shifter and the massive blower are just for show. Then there’s an actual Ecto-1—a 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood Hearse as seen in 2016’s Ghostbusters. The 360-cubic-inch V-8 Caddy comes complete with a roof-mounted ghost box, flashing lights, and sirens.

Also up for grabs are a 1974 AMC Pacer X Mirthmobile from Wayne’s World, a 1960 Chrysler Imperial Crown that was used in A Series of Unfortunate Events, a 1981 GMC K2500 Sierra Grande from Fall Guy, a 1950 Ford Deluxe Military Sedan from Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, a 1963 Citröen 2CV driven by Woody Harrelson and Demi Moore in Indecent Proposal, and Starsky Hutch‘s Ford Gran Torino.
There are several recreations on offer as well, including cars from Netflix hits Stranger Things and Cobra Kai, plus Knight Rider, Jurassic Park, and The A-Team.
Kraft Auctions is taking care of the sale of the collection and bidding is already open.

Never Stop Driving #154: Monterey Madness

Pruett was busy last week, having also corralled Zak Brown to share his passion for the historic F1 cars that were at Laguna Seca to celebrate the 75 th anniversary of Formula 1 racing. Another of Pruett’s videos captures driver Takuma Sato’s joy when Honda put him behind the wheel of the Williams FW11, the turbocharged F1 machine that took Honda to its first F1 Constructors’ Championship.

Willing, by the way, was racing his vintage Ford Escort at Laguna. Ford CEO Jim Farley competed as well, but in a Shelby Cobra. The next day I watched Farley start his race in third place and then pass his way to the front. I’m no business expert, but I’ve come to believe that car companies are best run by those who are passionate about the products. Or which at least have some car nuts high up in the organization.
Highlights of the week included the aforementioned Motorlux party, which included the sale of a $5.2 million Maserati MC12 at the Broad Arrow Auction. The after-hour crowds crammed into an In-N-Out Burger near my hotel. The overflow brought traffic to a standstill, and gawkers flooded nearby parking lots. The local news station called the informal gathering a “street takeover” but I don’t think it was anything more than too many people vying for the same small parking lot. It seemed pretty innocent, although a local told me he saw folks doing donuts in the Home Depot lot across the street.
I missed the debut of the McLaren F1 successor, the Gordon Murray S1 LM, a potential successor to the Lexus LFA, and this modern take on the Meyers Manx Dune Buggy. Those who subscribe to Hagerty newsletters and follow us on social media were kept abreast of all the action. I hope you all followed along, and in case you didn’t, here are some highlights from the week:
- Hispano-Suiza “Tulipwood” Torpedo Wins Best of Show at 2025 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
- Photos of Every Car from Dawn Patrol at the 2025 Pebble Beach Concours.
- Cadillac Explores an Off-Road SUV with “Elevated Velocity” Concept.
- 2025 Monterey Auction Results: Second-Highest Ever Totals, Modern Supercars Lead.
Have a terrific weekend!
