What started as a simple meeting between two car buffs, Tom Barrett and Russ Jackson, in the early 1960s in Scottsdale has grown exponentially over the years into one of the world’s most prestigious and highly anticipated collector car auctions. Over the course of nine days, more than 1,700 cars and 1,100 pieces of automobilia are on display – that’s a lot of ground to cover. Here are some tips to help you make the most of everything the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale has to offer.

Tips for First-Timers
- Plan to attend more than one day – there’s simply too much to see and do at the Scottsdale auction.
- Attend at least one of the preview days so you can see all the cars before they’re auctioned.
- Use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft to avoid waiting for parking and shuttles.
- Be sure to attend at least one auction – it’s a thrilling experience you won’t want to miss (and it’s included in your ticket price)
- On the off chance it rains, go anyway! More than 1 million square feet of the auction is under cover.
- Keep your eyes peeled for celebrities, who are often there to buy or sell automobiles.
Tickets Packages
Single-day tickets and all-week passes are available, with discounted pricing offered for seniors (55+), students, members of the military, and first responders. Save money by purchasing tickets online in advance. Kids 12 and under are free on Family Value Day (Sat., Jan. 18), and children 5 and under are free daily.
VIP packages also are available, including the Craig Jackson Sky Box experience, Staging Lanes and Luxury Lounges. The Craig Jackson Sky Box is the ultimate event ticket and includes 4-day Craig Jackson Skybox access, premium food and a private bar, access to Staging Lanes Hospitality, an auction catalog, and much more.
Directions Parking
The event is located at WestWorld of Scottsdale, just off SR-101 at Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. (northeast corner between Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. and Bell Rd.). Directional signage will guide you to limited general parking at WestWorld as well as overflow lots. Both paid and complimentary parking options are available, and there is a free shuttle that will take you from the lot to the entrance. If you’d like to avoid parking altogether, a special area for rideshare pick-up and drop-off is located near the main entry.

How Many Cars Are Sold at Barrett-Jackson?
At the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction in Scottsdale in 2023, a total of $184.2 million was spent on 1,907 collector cars. With over 1,100 pieces of automobilia auctioned, the total auction sales totaled just over $190.6 million.
How Much Does the Seller Pay at Barrett-Jackson?
To sell a vehicle at Barrett-Jackson, the seller is responsible for paying the entry fee (based on the time of day of the auction and the lot number) and a seller’s commission of 8% of the hammer price. The buyer pays a 10% buyer’s premium on the sale.

What Is the Most Expensive Car Ever Sold at Barrett-Jackson?
The most expensive car ever auctioned at Barrett-Jackson was the 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake—reportedly the last “Super Snake” in existence. It sold for $5,500,000 in 2007, was auctioned again for $5,115,000 in 2015, and sold for $5,500,000 in 2021.
Some notable contenders for the most expensive car ever sold at Barrett-Jackson also include the original Batmobile (sold for $4,620,000 in 2013), the 1950 General Motors Futurliner (sold for $4,400,000 in 2015), and the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 (sold for $3,850,000 in 2014).

From start to finish our whole experience at this property was top notch, the best I’ve ever had with a house rental. They reached out multiple times to make sure the house would be set up how we wanted. Their in-house concierge offered us a million options for services, (from home massages, to private chef, yoga instructors that came to the house, etc) and they answered all our questions very promptly during the stay. It was incredible and I’d 100% stay here again!

The place (The Luxe) was fantastic!! We had 4 families stay for 5 nights. We loved the house and all the outdoor games. The house was well stocked with everything you need and very clean. Just got back from a 5 day stay at Desert Azul and it was great! Property is huge. We played pickle ball, ping pong and bags every morning, then spent early afternoon basking and playing in the very warm pool water. Home is well equipped and the beds are all firm but comfortable. Very few steps on the property so even my 89 year old Mother could easily navigate her way around the property. Great place to stay with a big group.

The pictures of this property do not do it justice. The outdoor space was amazing. Pool was so inviting. The backyard was completely private. We were a small group of 7 but the house was stocked to host a very large group. Our chef was impressed with how the kitchen was stocked. The property manager was always available and responsive.

D&G Retreat is a beautiful house with a fantastic backyard! Great location in a quiet, friendly neighbourhood that’s close to everything. The property is great! There are all kinds of things to do; pickleball, ping pong, putting green and corn hole. The pool and hot tub temperatures were perfect and the outdoor grill and fire tables worked perfectly. The host for the property was awesome, I think they worried more about our satisfaction then I did. Wonderful place to stay!
