Was a non-roster invitee to MLB Spring Training for the second consecutive year; made two appearances and tossed 2.2 scoreless innings, retiring all eight batters he faced (4 SO). Made 24 starts for Lehigh Valley (AAA). Averaged 9.69 SO/9 IP (117 SO, 108.2 IP) with the IronPigs. Over two starts from 8/9-14, tossed 11 innings without an ER and tallied 15 strikeouts. Struck out 29 batters over 21 innings in four starts during August (12.43 SO/9.0 IP) and posted a 3.86 ERA (9 ER). Added to 40-man roster on 11/19.

Began pro career with Clearwater (A). Averaged 13.30 SO/9.0 IP (66 SO, 44.2 IP). Struck out 34.9% of the batters he faced (66-189). Held opponents to a .174 AVG (27-155). Made his pro debut, 5/5 vs Lakeland. Was placed on the IL with right shoulder tendinitis, 8/3, and missed the remainder of the season. Following the season, was named the No. 1 prospect in the Phillies system by Baseball America. Baseball America also rated his fastball as the best in the club’s minor league system. Participated in Florida Instructional League.

Did not pitch during the regular season. Participated in FIL. Following the season, was named the No. 2 prospect in the Phillies system by Baseball America.
